I don't know if this scares you: 2 more weeks, 5 more practices.
Some of you still aren't taking practice seriously or even worse, you don't turn up for practice.
This isn't a joke, stringers. SYF is coming and we're far from ready.
We know the pieces have become an infuriating chore, but that doesn't mean we should start neglecting them.
Put feeling into your playing, try to pitch your notes perfectly, sway a little (esp. Finzi), put effort into executing every other musical detail well and the piece won't seem so boring anymore.
We know all of you are talented, we've seen it. But don't burn out now, okay?
Read some of the old posts here, too.

See you guys tomorrow :)

Hello stringers!

How was the new piece today HAHAHA okay I know it sounds pretty horrible now but go check it out on youtube it's actually a pretty interesting piece :)

Anyway here are some reminders in case you've forgotten them/never heard of them before:

1. SIT HALF CHAIR AND DON'T SLOUCH WHEN PLAYING for those sitting seriously most of you all are doing it (well done) but there's still a minority sitting full chair and all please remember to sit properly okay repeat offenders will have wet towels hung on their chairs huehuehue
2. No talking during rehearsals, or at most just whisper! I guess a small joke and a harmless passing comment here and there are okay but please don't talk about your boyfriends or pets or potatoes or how you messed up painting your toenails you have 24 hours a day and rehearsal takes up only 3 hours so pls CONTROL THE URGE TO SPEAK MY CHILDREN CONTROL
3. Don't practice your parts when the conductor is standing in front! It doesn't matter if he or she is focusing on another section or talking about an upcoming concert or just scrutinising the score, because respect must be given at all times. Even if you've just received the score and you're not sure how to play (like today), DON'T PRACTICE WE'RE ALL SIGHT-READING TOGETHER *cue high school musical*
5. ^same goes to whoever is making an announcement. No talking when an announcement is being made okai
6. Shoes in neat rows outside and bags and cases in neat rows in the utility room! I think this is pretty okay keep it up :)
7. Please don't just leave school right after packing your stuff, because sometimes we may have important announcements! Even if we don't just pop back into the MEP room to help pack up more efficiently or (if you're really in a rush) at least ask any leader if there's anything else you need to know before leaving. Most of us don't really have this habit of popping back in and it's quite troublesome because we can't make announcements when half the population is gone, so start cultivating this habit from the next session onwards okay!

I think that's it for now hehe GOOD NIGHT EVERYBADI 记得吃饭喝水睡觉 byebye

OHH PS remember to print your respective scores by Friday don't print wrongly or forget to print ahh

CCA Fair 2014

Hello dear stringers! :) Hope you had a great December holidays, and managed to sneak some practicing time for the auditions! >:) I hope you all did.
Well, as all of you would have known, cca fair is coming (11 Jan!), and we would like all of you to play a part in it, not just by playing together. Yes, we will need all of you to create a poster to promote SN Strings, and here are the details:

It must be at least be A4 size.
Be creative, it doesn’t have to be fixed to a rectangle.
It must be obvious that we are publicising SNSO not SNCO. (ahem one extra curve makes a lot of difference)
Include CCA timings! (Wednesday 3.45pm to 6.30pm  Friday 4.00pm to 6.30pm)
Try to make it as colourful as possible. Catch people’s attention! so that when our juniors see it they will go OOH AHH 很棒,好的我要 join Strings 现在马上报名 ;)  *fireworks* *blingbling*
We have a nice slogan so please use it :) ‘Without A Doubt’

I THINK WE ARE MORE OR LESS DONE WHEEE:)

We hope that all of you will put your best effort into this poster, because each one of your poster really matters :) We’re gonna use every single one of them, so dont think of submitting late ya :) Dateline: Monday 6 Jan 2014 find and pass it to us! We're both in 4G :)

LETS BOMBARD THE SCHOOL WITH OUR AWESOME POSTERS MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY ;D

YES WE CAN DO THIS, ((creating awesome posters))
Because we are,
Without a Doubt, SNSO.

Love <3>
Your very crazy but not so crazy Jeanhann and Zhi Shyuan ;D

Hey Guys!

I'm sure some of you out there still do not know some of the positions the different people are running!

Jiayou for our upcoming performances! :)

Hello Stringers! :)

Hmm just like what most of you know, all of you will be playing for Open House, while some will be playing for the Official Opening. However, whether or not you will be participating in the Official Opening, each and everyone of you play an important role no matter what section you are in, so never belittle yourself!
Although it might just be a one-time performance to you all, but it might also be because of that one performance that captivates our little possible-future-妹妹们 to join SNSO haha :)
Hmm and for us to put up a great performance, we've to practice reallyreally hard! This explains the many practices that we will be having during the holidays, and I hope that you all will put your heart and soul into every practice. Yes, it will be tiring and boring at times because we're playing the same pieces over and over again. However, don't don't don't give up, because each and everyone of you are more important than you think you are! And for our stringers who might have trouble with some parts of the pieces, feel free to ask your SLs or ASLs and I'm sure they're more than willing to help you with it! :)

And hahaha one last thing! Remember to smileeeeeeeeee and sway to the music as you play! :))) Because number one, it looks scary when you don't smile as you play :/ And number two, it shows that you enjoy the music (haha I really hope you do enjoy it though) You guys reallyreallyreally look pretty when you smile so do smile more often :D Haha to me it feels really heartwarming to see you all smile :') Haha so smile and sway because no one wants to look like stones stones aren't nice they don't smile they stone so don't stone because stones stone and no we don't want to be stones so smile and sway :D

Jiayou my dear Stringers! :)
And I believe we can do this,
Because we're Without a Doubt, one SNSO

Lubdub, Zhi Shyuan :)
